Stargazing Excursion on 9 Jan

The Eastmeadows Physics department organised a stargazing event on the 9th of January, during the summer holidays. Physics students from Year 11 and 12, as well as graduates enjoyed the experiments and games, prior to stargazing. Mr. Russel, the Vice President of the Astronomical Society of Victoria, introduced different kinds of telescopes and explained interesting facts about the night sky. He talked about the brightest stars of the night sky (Sirius, Canopus and Rigel), constellations and planets. Students looked through the telescopes for the rest of the night to explore the Milky Way and the Moon.
